“I will fight for you”
To My Valued Community Members:
I am honored to introduce myself as your candidate for District 2 for the Vallejo City Council for 2022. Thank you for learning more about my story and the motivation behind my run for office. You will see why I am the best person to serve our community as your first elected city councilperson.
I will bring the values and core beliefs to the city council I received at a very young age. I am one of five children born to Miller and Hazel Jordan. My father was a barber for many years and then worked for the State of New Jersey as an inspector with the Division of Alcohol and Beverage Control, from where he retired. My mother was a teacher and administrator for the Newark, NJ, board of education for 40 years. My parents regularly emphasized the importance of family, community, faith, respect, and truth. As a result, my siblings and I learned to treat others the way we wanted to be treated, respect our elders, go to church, and get a good education. My siblings and I were always taught to always treat others the way that we would want to be treated ourselves. Respect your elders, go to church, and get a good education.
____________
When I was a young man, my father told me he thought I would be a good Realtor. He had a way of prophecy regarding people’s future careers. My father told my brother to go into gospel music and my oldest brother to go into education. We all ended up in the professions he suggested. With the support and encouragement of my family, I opened my own pest control company in NJ. I worked in the industry for 30+ years. I finally made his dream a reality when I joined Zip Realty in 2008. I have now been a Realtor/Realtist for 14 years. I also work for H&R Block as a senior tax preparer.
____________
After I moved to Vallejo, I joined many volunteer and civic organizations in the city. I first joined the Vallejo Branch NAACP and held the positions of 1st VP, Treasurer, and Executive Board member. In addition, boys Scouts of America, I served in many Scout Leadership positions and District Commissioner, Chairman of the African American Alliance, Chairperson for the Human Relations Commission, Secretary for Civil Service Commission, Participatory Budgeting commission, President of the Solano Realtist, and member in good standing with the Solano Association of Realtors.
____________
I am married to Karren Moore Jordan Esq, and we have three adult children together. Erika, Alex, and Miles Jordan. My oldest daughter is Ashaki Larkins and lives in Newark, NJ. I am a family man that enjoys taking trips with my family and enjoying their company”
